Babies who puts on there placenta was thought that they were born to live a happy life. There was a belief in the placenta in Japan as well. When a baby was born, the placenta was placed in an unglazed jar and buried in a mountain in the auspicious direction of the birthplace. It was believed that the placenta would protect the baby both during life and after death.
